Valentine’s Day is a particularly special occasion. Not only is it a day to celebrate all the people I love but it is also my grandmother’s birthday. This year Valentine’s Day was a cause for triple celebrations: V-Day, grandmother’s birthday and Chinese New Year! When she answered the phone she was eating a bowl of noodles (symbol of longevity) and some vegetables from her garden. I told her about all the desserts I made and wanted to bring over sometime. So in honor of her special day I baked banana bread (haven’t mastered a real birthday cake so quick breads will have to substitute for now.), cut thick slices and pressed the heart-shaped cookie cutter into the bread. The photo above is the finished product of my handiwork. Happy Birthday and Valentine’s Day Grandma!
